Ben and his crew are great to work with, affordable and do outstanding follow-up: cleaning grounds and extra flashing/gutter caulking if needed. In my case, a follow up was needed not because of Mears' initial job, but due to having a very old house...now with a new 30-year roof. :)

6/8/2015Mears roofing is probably one of the top 3 in the Puget Sound area. They are true professionals and did amazing work, and didn't turn their nose at me when I requested a small job- only about 260 sq ft for a patio roof. Other companies did. They understood my price limitations and were kind when they gave me a military discount of $500, which is more generous then Achtens or the other roofers I called; they basically laughed at me when I asked for a discount as I was strapped for money and needed my roof fixed before I was reassigned back to GA.
They also follow up on their work; while I was repairing my gutters I noticed debris and nails in them from the job the roofer must have forgotten. I called Mears back and told them about it, and they sent someone out a couple of days later to clean the gutters out, no questions asked. This saved me time to work on getting other things ready and they understood that, and we're honestly ashamed their man had forgotten- their humbleness and service is a rarity in today's business.

I had such a great experience with Mears Roofing and I'm super happy I went with them.
My roof was in terrible shape before they came in and was leaking constantly. I had to keep a bucket in my house under the leak for the longest time and kept putting the repair off. So I finally gave in to having it fixed professionally. Mears was the first place I contacted because of all the great reviews I read on Yelp. I first contacted them through their website and scheduled a roof estimation, free of charge, all online which was really easy and convenient because you can choose a time that fits your schedule. They say you don't have to be home but I wanted to be there anyway.
I arrived home maybe a few minutes after the scheduled meeting but by the time I got home, they had already left. They came by early and was finished with the estimation before I even arrived! I called in right after and they had already drafted a quote for me. Since it was a bit out of my budget, I didn't call back but they followed up with me a few days later. I told them my concerns and they said they couldn't really do anything because of the condition of my roof, which was reasonable. After we hung up, they called again and offered to take the price down lower by using leftover materials they already had. I was really touched by their concern for my financial situation and they were great with communication. I took the offer and we scheduled the repair a couple weeks later.
They were very quick to respond and follow up with any questions/concerns I had. The day they came, they didn't need anything from me and even brought their own generator. I wasn't even home most of the day so I wasn't bothered by any noise. I came home to my house looking the same way I left it and my roof was completely fixed. Even the payment process was simple and easy. I'm very pleased I didn't have to waste time shopping around for quotes. Mears did an amazing job!

I called around a few roofers for a small project - install 2 anchors on my house roof and another 2 on my garage roof. Emily from Mears was super helpful on the phone, and provided a competitive quote. It was 10% lower than a second quote I got, and about 40% lower than a third quote. Also, her pricing was super 'to the point.' The company that was 10% higher was offering a range, where they'd have to come out and the price could have been higher. I am sure many jobs require an on-site quote, but this one clearly didn't and Mears was super transparent with me, offering a quote that did not fluctuate from the actual whatsoever.
Mears also was able to squeeze me in within 2 days. Not only this, but Emily gave me some advice on keeping my roof clean on my own. Clearly this is not to their advantage since it means my roof lasts longer, and I can do some of the work myself, but that didn't bother her at all - she seemed genuinely concerned with saving me money and protecting my roof.
Arthur, the roof guy, came out and was great. He looked at both roofs and we discussed the best placement for the anchors. He got to work and I watched him all along, asking questions and learning from the process. It was also evident from looking at another anchor in the neighborhood what a correct installation was (anchors go underneath shingles like Mears did) versus an incorrect one (another house had the anchor on top of the shingles, which in watching Arthur, would take far less time to do). Mears did not cut corners and did it right. We also talked about ways to keep my roof clean, and he offered insight on another part of my roof that may need replacement in the next few years, giving a potentially far less expensive option when the time comes.
I had decided to have Arthur install only 1 anchor on the garage, and minutes after he left, I decided that I'd like another one installed after all to be on the safe side. I called Emily, and Arthur was back at my door in 5 minutes, smile on his face and happy to help.
I never felt like the job was "too small" for them - they were on top it, competitive on price, on time, and knew their stuff. So for future jobs, small or large, you bet I'll be calling them back.
Good, honest company with attention to customer satisfaction and detail, all at a very fair price, and with very nice people.

Stop shopping and call Ben Mears Roofing. Simple as that.
I really cannot speak highly enough of Ben and his team. They just finished replacing the roof on our house and as I later realized, this was the first time we had ever hired a contractor for a major job. It was totally painless!
Simply put, Ben is so easy to work with and truly went the extra mile for my family. I cannot thank you enough. We are thrilled with our new roof and remark daily on how we no longer fear the roof soaking through and caving in on us. The roof replacement was done efficiently and with such care. The crew that worked here was courteous and mindful of our neighbors. No foul language, no smoking. Tarps were laid out for debris and they made a point to clean up the yard at night so the dogs could roam safely. They even left our front yard cleaner than it has been since we bought this house. Seriously, the driveway sparkles and I think they cleaned up a pile of leaves!
I don't usually gush but we are beyond impressed with Mears Roofing. Other reviewers are using words like incredible and tremendous, and they are all correct. I think what makes them the best is how personable Ben is. He is the leader of the group but also does the work himself and will take time to chat with you! His team was friendly and quiet.
Our new roof is beautiful and we owe it all to Mears Roofing.
